FAQs

The initial consultation fee to see Dr Broadhurst is $160, payable at the time of consultation.

Dr Broadhurst’s policy is to offer you an appointment on the next day he is in the office so there are minimal delays in receiving your care. If this is not convenient, you may choose another suitable time.

  • A referral from your General Practitioner or family doctor
  • Your Medicare and your insurance information
  • All relevant x-ray reports and test results from your primary care or referring physician
  • A list of all medications that you are currently taking
  • A list of any known drug allergies and the symptoms you may have from taking these medicines
  • If you have had surgery elsewhere, please bring a copy of your operation report.

A video or photographic record of your endoscopy may be arranged at the time of your visit. In addition, a glossy photo-sheet of your endoscopy will automatically be sent to your referring doctor. You can obtain copies of your medical records at any time by simply signing a “release of medical information” form.

Medicare will pay about $70 of the $160 fee. Unfortunately, private health funds do not contribute to “out-patient” care so the “out of pocket” cost to you then becomes roughly $90. The receipt you receive from the consultation is submitted to Medicare for you. Your Medicare refund is then either mailed to you, or directly deposited, if your bank details are registered with Medicare.

Dr Broadhurst operates at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital in Spring Hill. He also operates monthly at Brisbane Private Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital, St Stephen’s Hospital in Hervey Bay and Ballina Day Surgery in Northern New South Wales.

If an endoscopy or another procedure is performed on the day, this will attract an additional fee. It will range between $140 and $205 of which Medicare will cover between 75-95%. The total account is payable at the conclusion of the consultation. Your “out of pocket” cost is no more than $90 for the endoscopy component of the consultation.
